Winery Glycol Cooling & Refrigeration

Winery Refrigeration in the Okanagan
Based in Kelowna, Norlock Refrigeration designs, installs and services glycol cooling, heating and climate-control systems for Okanagan wineries, breweries and distilleries.
Winery Glycol Chiller Installation, Replacement & Service
We size chillers, piping and pumps around fermentation loads, tank temperatures and seasonal demand. We also replace aging chillers and provide planned maintenance.
Automated Wine Tank Temperature Control
Individual tank controls let winemakers set fermentation temperatures tank by tank. We coordinate glycol flow, piping and controls to deliver cooling where it is needed.
Glycol Heating & Cold Stabilization
We select boilers and glycol distribution equipment for process heating and size cooling capacity for cold stabilization.
Barrel-Room Humidification & Climate Control
We coordinate temperature, humidity and airflow with ventilation and surface temperatures to manage condensation.

Cooling Selected for Your Winemaking Process
Fermentation and cold stabilization
Fermentation control and cold stabilization place different demands on a cooling plant. We size chillers and glycol distribution for the temperatures, batch sizes and processing schedule specified by the winemaker. Cold stabilization uses controlled cooling to encourage tartrate precipitation before bottling; the treatment temperature and duration depend on the wine and process.
Tank jackets, piping and controls
Dimpled or channel jackets transfer heat through the tank wall. We review jacket capacity, circulation, valve control and insulation together so the system can meet the required tank temperatures. Portable chillers and central plants are considered according to scale, simultaneous loads and future expansion.
Energy performance and incentive support
Chiller staging, variable-speed pumps, control sequencing, suitable winter free cooling and useful heat recovery can improve plant operation. We assess proposed changes against operating hours and utility consumption, and assist with supporting documentation for applicable utility incentives. Eligibility and approval depend on current programme requirements.
Talk to Norlock early about equipment layout, service access, piping routes and future capacity.
Glycol Heating & Hot Water Systems
Norlock can integrate boilers and suitable tankless water-heating equipment with winery heating and hot-water requirements.
We assess required temperatures, peak demand, water quality, heat exchangers, control sequences and service access. Glycol process circuits and potable-water systems are separated through suitable equipment and arrangements.
Equipment selection considers installation requirements, redundancy, maintenance and total operating cost. Discuss your process with us before choosing a heater or expanding a plant.
