Energy Savings with New Technologies

ABSORPTION CHILLERS

BROAD manufactures absorption chillers that use natural gas or suitable recovered heat to produce chilled water.

These systems can reduce the electrical capacity needed for chilling and avoid large refrigerant-compressor overhauls. Planned service is still required for burners, pumps, vacuum systems, heat exchangers and water treatment.

Norlock compares absorption and mechanical chiller options using load, efficiency, delivered utility prices, auxiliary energy, water use and maintenance.

Combined Heat & Power

Microturbines and other combined heat and power systems generate electricity on site while recovering useful heat. Where the facility has a steady thermal demand, recovered heat may support hot water, process heating or a compatible absorption chiller.

Norlock can help assess the cooling and heat-recovery side of an integrated project with the equipment supplier and electrical project team. Fuel costs, electrical interconnection, heat utilisation, emissions requirements, maintenance and backup arrangements all affect feasibility.
